Third and fourth-grade students at North Elementary have a unique new way to participate in after-school activities. With the help of Michael Bradt and The Bit Theater of Aurora, North offers an after-school Comedy Improv class! North’s principal, Fred Leinweber, and assistant principal Dr. Joe Ritchie worked with Bradt to develop a program specifically for our Penguins. The class filled up quickly with 20 students. Each week the students meet for an hour to develop skills targeted for improv. Students learn valuable life skills, including active listening, body language, communication, collaboration, team-building, and fun!
Dr. Ritchie has a long history with Michael Bradt, having taught the owner/performer 33 years ago in Dr. Ritchie’s first teaching position. After recently reconnecting, Bradt shared that he offers classes for schools. The North Comedy Improv group hopes to hold a parent performance once all classes are done. We love the way our students are stretching to learn new skills. Way to go, Penguins! And thank you to Mr. Michael Bradt and our friends at The Bit Theater for supporting our students’ success!
