Students in grades K-2 at North recently voted for their favorite book nominated for the Illinois Monarch Award during Library Class. Throughout the year, students have been reading from a list of 20 nominated books. Now, it’s time for them to choose their top pick, just like students all over Illinois. Before voting, students revisited the nominated books and thought carefully about them. The book that received the most votes from North students was “Stormy: A Story About Finding a Forever Home” by Guojing. The students’ votes were sent to the AISLE (Association of Illinois School Library Educators), who will tally up all the votes from students across the state and announce the winner in a couple of weeks.
